Masajid Committee Bhopal
Constitution of Masajid Committee in Bhopal State: Before merger of Bhopal State in Indian Union an Agreement (Merger Agreement) was executed on 30th April 1949 between Janab Hamidullah Khan Nawab Bhopal and Indian Union. The gazette notification was issued on May 1951.
Under this Agreement it was decided to continue the financial assistance to Mandirs, Masajid and other religious institutions.
A committee was established in 1950 for disbursement of salary to Imams, Moazzins and maintenance of Masajid of Sehore, Raisen and Bhopal districts of the Bhopal State. Adequate grant was being given to this committee which is still continuing. Normally the committee was constituted for two years and it is extended as per requirements.
The 300 years old institutes Darul Qaza and Darul Ifta being religious institutions were also transferred under the committee. Further, management and maintenance of Hamidia Islamiya High School was also the responsibility of this Committee.
For the time being Masajid Committee is functioning under the backward classes and Minorities Welfare department of Madhya Pradesh Government.
